Before; an unused yard |
Designer Terry Sims and the Team from The Garden Artist, LLC, transformed
this unused backyard into an entertaining and relaxing haven.
|
Design and construction took six weeks and incorporated a
covered sitting area, soaking tub, outdoor kitchen, group sitting area and
fire/water feature.
|
Located in a townhome complex, the yard was small measuring 23 x
33'. A central axis (path) was designed to connect the destination
areas (cooking, soaking and sitting). Plant materials were used to
soften the natural stone construction and the hot tub was sunk 18" to
minimize the size and provide a view corridor to the fire/water feature. A
pergola over the hot tub provides aesthetic shelter and a frame for Wisteria.
|
Natural rock slabs serve as a backrest for the seats. Fire provides
warmth as it flares above the lava balls. Water emerges from under the
balls and cascades off the platform into a reflecting basin. Rocks in each
corner were selected to double as a platform for a beverage. A ledge
was built off the water basin for a foot rest. The backrests,
footrests, warmth, glass holders and aesthetic benefits of falling water beckons the Visitor.
